I AM WALKING IN HONOUR OF My relative

Walking for women’s cancer: harness the Rex and keep moving

There is something quietly powerful about putting one foot in front of the other. Walking may seem simple, but when done with purpose, it becomes an act of courage, solidarity, and hope—especially when we walk for women affected by cancer.

Women’s cancer touches so many lives. Mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, coworkers. Some are fighting, some are surviving, and some are remembered with every step we take. Walking for women’s cancer is not just a physical journey; it is an emotional one. It carries stories of fear, resilience, exhaustion, and strength all at once.

That’s where the idea to harness the Rex comes in.

To harness the Rex means to gather everything that feels big, heavy, or overwhelming—the fear, the anger, the fatigue, the uncertainty—and strap it in beside you instead of letting it stop you. A rex is powerful, unstoppable when guided with intention. When we harness it, we don’t deny the challenge; we use it.

On the walk, there are moments when your legs ache and your breath shortens. There are moments when the cause hits close to home and emotions rise unexpectedly. Instead of pulling back, you harness it. You let the weight remind you why you’re there. You let the challenge fuel your steps.

Every stride becomes a statement:

  • For early detection

  • For research

  • For better treatments

  • For those who can’t walk beside us

Walking for women’s cancer is not about speed or distance. It’s about showing up. It’s about community—walking shoulder to shoulder with people who understand that hope is built slowly, step by step.

When the path feels long, harness the Rex.
When the cause feels heavy, harness the Rex.
When doubt creeps in, harness the Rex.

Because strength isn’t the absence of struggle. Strength is learning how to use it.

And as the miles pass beneath your feet, you realize something powerful: every step forward is proof that even in the face of cancer, even in the face of fear, we keep moving. Together.

My Updates

Cancer Stops With Me!

On Saturday 2 May 2026, I'm challenging myself to walk 35km as part of the New Town Toyota Walk for Women's Cancer. I'm doing this Walk to do something big for our mums, sisters, daugthers, friends and loved ones living with cancer.

This year I'm committed to raising vital funds for women’s cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research because the women we cherish deserve to live longer, healthier lives free from cancer.

There is so much more to be done to ensure that women of WA confronting cancer stay with us for as long as possible. I am training and fundraising in the lead up to the event. I would be so grateful for your support. If you can't join me (I'd love your company), please give generously to my donation page.

I don't want anyone to have to hear "You have cancer". Please help me and the Perkins make that happen.

Let’s walk towards a cancer-free future – together.
