I Am because I Can!

On Saturday 2 May 2026, I'm once again challenging myself to walk 35km as part of the New Town Toyota Walk for Women's Cancer.  I'm doing this Walk to do help continue the fight for our mums, sisters, daughters, friends and loved ones.

This year I'm committed to raising vital funds for women’s cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research because the women we cherish deserve to live long, healthy lives free from cancer.

The advances we've made in the research space so far have been incredible, but there is so much more to be done to ensure that women confronting cancer stay with us for as long as possible.

As always, my inspiration is my cherised friend and now angel Leanne, but the list of  sufferers, survivors and angels close to my heart that I walk in honour of is sadly growing longer every year and there HAS to be a point where the trend turns around.   Women's cancers don't discriminate and I live with the understanding that at any tick of the clock it could be my turn.  If all I have to do raise vital funds towards research and prevention is walk, then that's what I'll do.

Whilst I can, I will.

I am training and fundraising in the lead up to the event. I would be so grateful for your support. If you can't join me (I'd love your company!), any and all support, no matter how small, is gratefully received and so very appreciated xx

Please help me, help the Perkins.

Proud of your cause, Kel. Cancer touches us all at some point in our lives. Here’s hoping that the money raised in this fundraiser can help others one day. Best of luck to you and Lauren with the walk!
