I'm walking for Linda, for Carol, and to pay it forward!
Cancer can take so much from us. Whether it is a loved one, family member, friend or closer to home, cancer is relentless. I know this only too well. I lost my first wife Carol to breast cancer in 2011.
Move forward to 2020, when my wife Linda was diagnosed with HER2+ breast cancer. Linda endured an immediate mastectomy and 15 months of intensive treatment, much of which was developed by researchers just like the brilliant minds at The Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
I am so grateful that Linda is now cancer-free, and I want to continue helping the Perkins in making cancer a non-lethal illness for the wonderful women in our lives. The dedicated researchers at the Perkins are committed to improving the health outcomes for those women affected by the hardest-to-treat cancers. Hearing the words "it's cancer" is heart-wrenching and life-changing. But with the Perkins researchers, I am determined to eliminate the fear and uncertainty that cancer brings.
That is why I am again challenging myself to walk 35km's on Saturday 3 May 2025, as part of the New Town Toyota Walk for Women's Cancer. I'm doing this Walk for Linda, for Carol, and to do something big for all our mums, wives, sisters, daughters, friends and loved ones living with cancer. I'm committed to raising vital funds for women’s cancer research at the Perkins because the women we cherish deserve to live longer, healthier lives free from cancer.
There is so much more to be done to ensure that women of WA confronting cancer stay with us for as long as possible. I am fundraising in the lead up to the event and would be so grateful for your support. If you can't join me on the Walk (I'd love your company), please give generously to my donation page.
I don't want anyone to have to hear "You have cancer". Please help me and the Perkins make that happen.
Let’s walk towards a cancer-free future – together.
Please help me, help the Perkins.
