Picked up my pack today

Travelled to Perkins at Nedlands and collected my pack today (Sunday).
Love the new shirt...great fabric.
Wee dog visited while I was there with owners, lovely.
After i went to Kings Park for a 5k walk thru the most glorious and picturesque parklands.
Had a giggle overhearing a wee boy say to his mum.."the view is EPIC". He would be 6yrs old and appreciated the "Epic" view. His mum could not believe he said "epic". Delightful day.
Big thankyou to all my family and friends for donating and sponsoring for this big day. I will post some pics on the day..weather is showing a few showers, but what's a few drops for a cause so dear.
Hugs

My Updates

Cancer ends with me!

On Saturday 3 May 2025, I'm challenging myself to walk 35km as part of the New Town Toyota Walk for Women's Cancer. I'm doing this Walk to do something big for our mums, sisters, daugthers, friends and loved ones living with cancer.

This year I'm committed to raising vital funds for women’s cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research because the women we cherish deserve to live longer, healthier lives free from cancer.

There is so much more to be done to ensure that women of WA confronting cancer stay with us for as long as possible. I am training and fundraising in the lead up to the event. I would be so grateful for your support. If you can't join me (I'd love your company), please give generously to my donation page.

I don't want anyone to have to hear "You have cancer". Please help me and the Perkins make that happen.

Let’s walk towards a cancer-free future – together.

Birthday donation

Wow, Birthday today and to my biggest surprise I recieved a huge donation from Alan and Nikki. This takes me straight to Promenade Level..I am 😲 stunned to have achieved my personal goal with the love and support of you all.
Donations of any amount is
 life changing and I thank
every friend and family for getting behind this cause. My feet will walk and my hands and knees will crawl to the finishing line. Hugs Myra

Family assurance

Even while I am struggling with hip issues my.hubby Barry keeps me going.  He has donated a goodly amount to push me forward.  Nothing like pressure..lol.  Thanks Baz  xx

Struggling a tad

Been walking some and finding foot and hip discomfort this year.
Off to podiatrist for some help.

Training day struggles

Trying hard to keep in step. Just realised suffering from planter foot problem. Also hip rheumatoid issue.
So working thru this to be ready for 3rd May.
Cheers
Myra

Kings Park training

Well this walk is one of the hardest for me as it is 6k of incline walking, kills my hip joints. 😒.  But completed 10k.  One of the most magnificent views of our beautiful Perth city looking from the glass walk bridge.
Keep watching blog for more updates on how I am travelling. I still have a bit to go to reach my $$$ goal. Thanks to all my sponsors.xx

Annual update year 4

Wow, what a lovely day 8th March has been. Annual appointment to see Dr Jasmine my breast physician. 4th year of clear results of mammogram and ultrasound. So happy. Dr Jasmine was keen to hear about my 35k walk from last year and amazed I am up for the 2025 challenge.
Then I went off to lunch ar Stage Door Mandurah,  with a beautiful girlfriend Janice who is visiting from UK. Janice lost her darling sister Helen last year to cancer and has generously donated to our cause. I will be walking for Helen.
People ask me Why do you share such personal info online.? I thought about that and said, "sharing facts and  knowledge that we all have to be diligent and get tested. Dont put it off because "I am busy, feel fine, got no lumps etc. " I was 64 had regular mammograms since age of 40, had  no lumps or any signs  and Bingo!! Was picked up in my mammogram a shadow, off for biopsy and found malignant carcinoma grade 3!!!. I am here today because of that mammogram." So if my sharing helps one person I have made a person take note.
This is why I challenge myself to Walk for Women's Cancer. Believe me 35k is no easy task, but worth every blister to help a fellow sister. Hugs xxxx
