2 more sleeps WooHoo

Early to bed this Friday.
Leave at 5am head to UWA for the start of Walk for Women's Cancer. Hoping weather stays mild. Last year was high 20's and my first 35k walk and it was not easy, but worth every step to raise funds and achieve a personal goal. This year training has improved however,  have had a slight foot injury  😫  not quite 100%, but will push forward all the way and a few 🍾 greats me at the end.  Wish me luck.xx Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. Still got $237 to go to reach target.

Please help me, help the Perkins.

My Updates

I'm fundraising for. Walk for Womens Cancer 2024

Hi All,
Cannot believe it is that time again.  Last year I achieved the 35k walk along with my great supporter Connie.  Hope she will join me again this year.   It was gruelling near the end of the walk, and she was so patient and kept me going.  I learnt a lot from last year, hydration is a must, along with regular training.
Going to start training on Sunday 14th January 2024 to build up to the big day.
Last year I was thrilled with the donations and hope you can help me reach my goal of $2000.  I know times are hard and understand if not able.  Every $$ helps the Perkins Insitute to unlock the next cancer breakthrough.
Watch out for more news throughout the coming months.
Thanks heaps in advance. Love M

Almost there for Big Day 27th April

Wow, cannot believe only 11 sleeps before the 35k walk for womens cancer.
I am half way too my goal of raising $2000.
I am reaching out to all to dig deep.  My friend Connie is such a support to keeping me motivated and she too will be walking with me.  My reason for walking is to show support for family and friends past and present where the big C worked it's way in some form into there lives.
I just turned 68 and am currently 3 years clear of cancer. I  want to drive home that this Walk is an important way to build awareness and raise funds to develop treatment to aid our future generations.
Look forward to achieving the goal and finishing my Walk for Women's Cancer. Hugs Myra xx

Training walk Saturday 23rd

What a fantastic day, I think there was 80 walkers turned up, which was best so far.
11.5k walked on the day. Caught up with 3 new walkers and shared a few stories and some laughs along the way.
Looking forward to 13th April for a 20k challenge preparing for the BIG Day April 27th.
I have 27 days to eat into my $2000 challenge. Hope you can share my page to help reach the target.
Take time to check my page . I am not the greatest blogger, but giving it a go.
We are all walking for someone you know, be it family, friend, colleague who has been struck by cancer in any form. Reach out and donate as little as $5. We are the key to helping unlock Cancer breakthroughs, we are the fuel that powers bright minds  we are the driving progress in women's cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute.
Chat to you again after the 20k walk with my dear girlfriend Connie and all the other great people. Wish me luck.

Boots are made for walking.

Training Hub has started and first group training Feb 24th, nice 5k stroll.
March thru to 20th April it speeds up from 11.5 to 20k..leading to Sat 27th April "The BIG Day" 35k.
Reminder if you could sponsor me I will walk my boots off. The cause is worth every blister.
I am 3 year into my treatment and all clear to date. I understand how hard it is to hear the words "you have cancer"...just sucks.
The Harry Perkins Institute are doing great things for many types of cancers.  Did you know the humble bumble bee venom is being used in research and the team  have found a key peptide in honeybee venom (melittin) to enhance its a bility to target cancer cells..not only breast cancer but ovarian cancer. Last year the Walk, shared $100,000 to this research team amongst many other teams.
So think about how a small donation can go a long way to aid results that could be lifesaving.  Check It out on www.perkins.org.au
Hugs to all, please share. Xxxxx
