Change of plans!
On Saturday 2 May 2026, I had planned to challenge myself to walk 35km as part of the New Town Toyota Walk for Women’s Cancer.
Life, however, had other plans.
Since committing to this walk, I have been diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer. Tomorrow, I head into surgery for a lobectomy — another chapter in a journey I never expected to be walking again.
But in true “keep moving forward” fashion… I’ve already completed the 35km.
Not in one day, and not without its challenges — but step by step, over the past few days, I got it done. Every kilometre carried purpose, determination, and a whole lot of heart.
I did this for our mums, sisters, daughters, friends — and for anyone who has heard the words, “You have cancer.” I did it for those still fighting, those we’ve lost, and those who will face this in the future.
This year, my commitment to raising funds for women’s cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research feels even more personal. Research matters. It gives us options, hope, and more time — and we need so much more of it.
As I head into surgery tomorrow, I carry with me strength from this walk, and from the incredible support around me.

Cancer ends with me!
On Saturday 2 May 2026, I'm challenging myself to walk 35km as part of the New Town Toyota Walk for Women's Cancer. I'm doing this Walk to do something big for our mums, sisters, daugthers, friends and loved ones living with cancer.
This year I'm committed to raising vital funds for women’s cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research because the women we cherish deserve to live longer, healthier lives free from cancer.
There is so much more to be done to ensure that women of WA confronting cancer stay with us for as long as possible. I am training and fundraising in the lead up to the event. I would be so grateful for your support. If you can't join me (I'd love your company), please give generously to my donation page.
