Cancer is tough, but we're tougher
In May 2020, I’m challenging myself to walk 35km in one day as part of the Hawaiian Walk for Women’s Cancer. I’m doing it to raise much needed funds for women’s cancer research right here in WA at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
There is so much more to be done to ensure that the women of WA – our mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loved ones – living with cancer stay with us for as long as possible.
I am training and fundraising in the lead up to the event. I'd be so grateful for your support. If you can't join me in the walk (I'd love the company), please give generously to my donation page.
Please help me, help the Perkins.
Let’s walk towards a cancer-free future – together.

Kneewalker so rockWell I entered a day yesterday in my activity because I just found out I can change activity to wheelchair and I should’ve been wearing my activewear with the leg pocket so it added up how many times I pushed my kneewalker (scooter) around and I’m still getiting QFF points too yay!
6 week inStill no union with my bones but another scan on this Wednesday. Luckily the knee walker is easier to get around on than crutches.
BrokenOh dear, a trip to Broome and I break my foot, Orthopaedic Surgeon appointment on Monday and hopefully it wont take long to heal, well it better be ok to walk in September.
ISOWell I did a few kms during ISO and ended up getting orthotics but it was great to walking new areas, along the coast and meeting friends.
There better be champagne stops
I think I'm fit enough to do this 35kms. eek
I am an empathetic, caring person but when a friend or family member has this terrible disease, I really don't know what to say to them, but know I am here for them/you, just let me know what I can do.
Since my grandmother died of Cancer in 1988 I have also known personally 5 others who have struggled with this but came through yay!. And recently my mate Sim has just been diagnosed with breast cancer, devastating to hear BUT... she too is a Strong and courageous friend and will get through it all, we all know it. She has been urging others to go get checked ASAP too, so I hope you have. I wanted to do this for her, as we've known each other for years.
I'd love it if the researchers came up with a magic pill so she and others don't have to go through this anymore.
Thinking of everyone out there who this has affected.
Please help me donate or walk with me.. thanks
