Cancer Stops With Me!
This year marks my fourth time walking for the Women’s Cancer Walk, and it means far more to me than I ever imagined.Over the years, I’ve walked alongside over 30 friends and family, had the honour of being a Walk ambassador, and met so many incredible people - all brought together by the same powerful cause.
Cancer isn’t something distant for me. It’s something my family lives with every day. My mum was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer at just 46. Within a year, it had become metastatic - spreading to her brain and changing all of our lives forever. Since then, our world has been shaped by multiple neurosurgeries, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and an ongoing unpredictable journey, one that asks more of you than you ever think you have to give. But through all of it, I’ve witnessed a strength in her that’s hard to put into words. A quiet resilience. The way she keeps showing up, even on the hardest days.
For the past two years, my mum and dad waited at the finish line, and I had the privilege of walking her across it. Those moments meant everything - because with cancer, you don’t take them for granted. This year, unfortunately due to her health, she won’t be there in person. But she’ll be with me for every step.
I’m walking for her. For our family. And for every woman facing a journey like hers - because this cause matters more than words can say.
