Carolyn Cotter

This is my 2nd year walking for womens cancer.

Cancer is tough, but we're tougher

In May 2021, I’m challenging myself to walk 35km as part of the Women’s Cancer Challenge. I’m doing it to raise much-needed funds for women’s cancer research right here in WA at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

There is so much more to be done to ensure that the women of WA – our mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loved ones – living with cancer stay with us for as long as possible. I am training and fundraising in the lead up to the event. I'd be so grateful for your support. If you can't join me (I'd love the company), please give generously to my donation page.

Please help me, help the Perkins.

Let’s walk towards a cancer-free future – together.

My Updates

....and I’m off and running...well, walking actually

I  usually have touch training on a Sunday morning and because of the rain it was cancelled. I have always loved walking in the bush in the rain so thought I would get started on my training for the 35km walk. I am so lucky to live where I do and I walked to Lake Goollelal which is about 2km from home. There is a viewing platform where I usually love to sit and just breathe in the serenity. I then decided OK, I’ve got time so I’ll walk around the lake which is a round trip of about 5km. I have been avoiding the lake in summer because the tiger snakes are out & about during the hotter weather but with the rain it was a perfect opportunity to get started on my training.  Last time I was walking it was wildflower season in WA and they were magnificent.  Now I am seeing what is in flower in the summer months.  I always make sure I stop to enjoy the beauty of nature and not just rush past.  I stop, I photograph, I admire and I walk in the world for those who  are no longer with us.

I am grateful every day of surviving breast cancer and even more grateful to people like you for supporting the awareness and raising money towards the research to stop other women from losing their battle. Whether it's Australia or NZ. It makes a difference. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
