On Saturday 3 May 2025 we're challenging ourselves to walk 35km as part of the New Town Toyota Walk for Women's Cancer raising vital funds for women’s cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research!
We are doing this walk to do something - for those facing breast and ovarian cancer because…
* Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in Australia in women
* 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime
* 1 in 556 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime
* 58 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer every day
This is
incredibly close to home for us with one of our friends last year, at 32 being diagnosed with Triple
Negative Breast Cancer.
A nurse, single mum to a toddler, dog mum to a chocolate labrador and pseudo
dog mum to any dog she meets really..
Through the ups and downs we’ve cried, we’ve laughed, we've danced and we’ve sat in silence but through it all she’s remained positive and one of the strongest people, one we are in absolute awe of every single day.
Now with chemo behind her, surgeries done and dusted, radiation is the next hurdle... but first, a quick little R&R trip to Bali!
Seeing first hand the impact of cancer really brings home WHY it so important to raise awareness, raise funds and be there for those who may need it during uncertain times, because the women we cherish deserve to live longer, healthier lives free from cancer ❤
