Below is a small section of the amazing participants who make this walk a truly memorable experience.

We will always be strong alone but we are so much tougher together.

Claudia

I walk so that I can continue to be there for my three-year old son and my partner. So that we can share in precious family moments together.  So that I will be there as our son grows to be a man. I walk to contribute funds into treatments that will prolong the lives of women living with metastatic cancer.

Ruhi

Walked 2018 and signed up for 2019. Cancer survivor.

I walk to give thanks. I walk as a survivor. I walk in memory of every family crippled by this disease. I walk to better the journey for those that come after me. I walk for my children and because remission isn’t enough… I walk for a cure.

Melinda

Walked 2016, 2017, 2018 and signed up for 2019. Mum survived breast cancer, and died from ovarian cancer.

I walk in memory of mum who passed away from cancer when I was 18. I walk because I want to save your mum, your nan, your sister, aunt, cousin, wife, partner, friend. If even one of them can be saved through research breakthroughs then the sweat, blisters and exhaustion will be totally worth it.

Daphne

Walked 2017, 2018 and signed up for 2019. Mum survived breast cancer; Perkins Researcher.

I walk to honour my late aunt and to acknowledge the battle my mother went through to come out a survivor. I walk to keep families, like yours and mine, together and healthy for as long as possible. This inspired me to become a medical researcher and to find better ways to treat cancer.

Louanne & John

I walk for my mum, myself and 27 other women I know personally who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I walk for the amazing work that the Perkins is putting into researching this disease and eradicating it. And the training is helping me to lose my chemo weight, so it’s a win/win!

Peter

I walk as part of a movement because I hope to make a difference. Because working together, we can achieve more! Because those affected by this awful illness rely on us to help them get through it.

Kellie, Megan, Nikki, Zoe

Walked 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and signed up for 2019. Sisters, mums, daughters, aunts, cousins.

We walk because we are strong women, we are family, and we have loved, and lost. The walk allows us to reflect and honour those women who cannot walk and together with our fellow walkers we want to make a difference. Finding a cure for cancer is closer with every step we take.
