WHEN AND WHERE

WHEN IS THE PERTH EVENT?
The first Saturday in May
WHERE WILL WE WALK?
You'll have a choice of 30km or 42km distance that goes through the streets and neighbourhoods of Perth. We don't release the exact route too far in advance in case it needs to be changed due to road closures, construction or other safety issues, but rest assured it will be well marked and enjoyable for people of all fitness levels.

REGISTRATION

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY REGISTRATION?
Your registration includes entry into the event as well as food and drink at the pit stops on the day.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Take your first step right now by registering. Once your transaction is complete, you will receive a confirmation email. Or, call us on 6151 0818 and we can get you registered over the phone.
WHAT DO I DO THEN?
Log in to set up your Everydayhero Fundraising Page and start fundraising. You can share your page through email or on social media, and ask friends and family to join you in a team! It's also a good idea to begin your training.

TRAINING

WILL I BE ABLE TO WALK THAT FAR?
Absolutely! The key to walking 30km or 42km is taking it at your own pace. It's not a race. We encourage you to take your time, enjoy the people around you, share stories, make friends. And, if you need help, there are always support vehicles nearby to take you to the next pit stop.
HOW SHOULD I TRAIN?

FUNDRAISING

HOW WILL I RAISE THE $1,000 MINIMUM?
Fundraising can be easy and fun! You can do so much when you put your mind to it. For some great fundraising ideas, and to see what will suit you and your lifestyle, visit our Fundraising Page.
DOES MY REGISTRATION FEE APPLY TOWARDS THE FUNDRAISING MINIMUM?
No. That fee pays for the support you'll receive prior to and during the event. Your fundraising goes 100% straight to the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. And once you get started you'll realise that you can raise more than imagined.
HOW DO I DONATE ONLINE?
It's easy with our fundraising partner Everydayhero. Visit their donation page and select the participant you want to donate to. Choose a donation amount and follow the instructions. Donors will receive a tax receipt via email.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T RAISE THE $1000 MINIMUM BY THE EVENT DATE?
If you have not raised $1000 by the event date, you cannot walk the event. You have two options:

1. You are welcome to switch to a volunteer so you can still be a part of the event, and help to support the walkers throughout the weekend.

2. Another option is a Delayed Self Pledge, which extends your fundraising for 6 weeks beyond the event date so that you can walk in the event. A Delayed Self Pledge requires you to provide a credit card that guarantees the difference between what you've raised and the $1000 minimum. If you still haven't reached the $1000 minimum after 2 months, your credit card will be charged the remaining balance. A donation can only be attributed to one participant's donation account. Donations are non-transferable and non-refundable.
HOW DO YOU KEEP INFORMATION (LIKE MY CREDIT CARD) SAFE?
We make every effort to protect your personal information. The software we use for registrations and donations on the website uses industry-standard SSL encryption techniques to make sure that your credit card information, password, and personal information travel securely over the internet. Our software provider has also installed an encryption engine on our database server so that your data is securely stored. Credit Card information is never stored in our database or our software provider's database.
HOW DO I DONATE BY MAIL?
Go to a participant's Everydayhero fundraising page and print out the pledge form. Mail this form in with your donation cheque. The mailing address is on the form. You can also get a form by calling our office at 6151 0818 and we can email you one. You will receive a receipt by email if your form includes a valid email address, or by mail if not.
HOW DO I CHANGE MY PERSONAL FUNDRAISING GOAL?
Is your contribution to the walk exceeding your expectations? Why not increase your fundraising goal? This can be changed on your fundraising page settings by logging in and editing the your fundraising goal.
HOW DO I CHANGE A NAME ON THE FUNDRAISING PAGE?
To update or change this, log in to your Everydayhero fundraising page and click on 'Edit this Supporter Page', then update the 'Page Title'. For any assistance please call 6151 0818 or email walk@perkins.org.au
CAN I RECEIVE CASH DONATIONS? DO I MAIL IN THE CASH?
Yes, you can absolutely receive cash donations. But, please do not mail the cash to us! We don't want it to get lost in the mail. Instead, write a cheque for the donation amount and mail it in with your donation form just be sure to enter the donor's information on the donation form. You can also make the donation online using your credit card, just be sure to put the donor's information in the required fields.
IN REFERENCE TO TEAMS - DOES EACH MEMBER NEED TO RAISE $1000 - OR IS IT A COMBINED TOTAL OF $1000?
Yes, each individual team member must raise the fundraising minimum of $1,000 to participate in the Hawaiian Walk for Women's Cancer. So, if you are a team of 5 fundraisers, your combined minimum goal will be $5,000.
I HAVE REACHED MY $1000 GOAL, CAN I HELP MY TEAM MEMBERS BY APPLYING SOME OF MY DONATIONS TO THEIR ACCOUNT?
Congratulations on reaching your goal! You cannot apply your donations to another persons account once they are on your page, but you can help your team members raise their own money by sharing your successful ideas. You can help them hold a fundraising event or do anything else that helps them get to their goal!

TEAMS

HOW DO I CHANGE MY TEAM NAME, TEAM GOAL, AND TEAM PAGE CONTENT?
The Team Captain controls the team name, goals and team page text. They can change these by logging in to their Everydayhero fundraising page, then clicking on the team page and editing this information by clicking on 'Edit this Team Page'.
HOW DO I SEE WHO IS ON MY TEAM?
You can view your team mates by clicking on your team name which is located on the right handside of your Everydayhero fundraising page, underneath your photo and page title.
CAN A COMPANY FORM A TEAM?
Absolutely! You can follow the same process as a standard team, but then work to market your efforts inside your company. We suggest you personalise your team page, choose an influential advocate at your company, communicate amongst yourselves by having meetings and emailing each other, support each other through your fundraising and training, and share your successes and celebrate them. Our Perkins support can provide you with resources for creating a corporate team.

YOUR PARTICIPANT CENTRE & PERSONAL PAGE

WHAT IS EVERYDAY HERO?
Everydayhero is a Blackbaud company founded in 2007 to help people all over the world, just like you, connect with and support the causes they love. Everydayhero is the online portal where you will interact with your peers, donors, supporters, and other likeminded people.
WHAT IS AN EVERYDAYHERO SUPPORTER PAGE?
A Supporter page is an online page that you can use to spread the word, inspire support and raise critical funds for a cause that you care about.

You can personalise your supporter page a profile image and personal story to tell people why you are walking, and can update your page by regularly posting fundraising activities, training walks, images and videos to your page.
HOW WILL PEOPLE FIND MY PERSONAL PAGE?
If your friends and family want to search for your personal fundraising page on Everydayhero, all they need to do is:

(1) Visit our website – www.walkforwomenscancer.org.au
(2) Scroll down to the “Search Supporters” search box in blue with a magnifying glass, underneath the Top Teams and Tops Individuals leader boards.
(3) Type in the name they are searching – ie: Sarah Smith
(4) This will bring up a set of pages to select from – just click on the name and they will be taken to your Supporter page.

From there they can donate and leave some words of encouragement.
HOW DO I EDIT MY SUPPORTER PAGE?
To edit your supporter page, first make sure that you are logged in.

Scroll down to below your image and page title and click on “Edit this Supporter Page”. Then you have the option to change your Page Title, Goal, URL, Why I Walk story, and Page Photo.

When you are done click the button “Save Changes”
HOW DO I JOIN AN EXISTING TEAM?
Raising money for your favourite cause with friends, family and colleagues is so much more fun than going it alone! You have more people to share the page and its cause, can reach a wider variety of people and can celebrate your efforts as a whole!

If someone has created a team on everydayhero that you would like to join, simply follow these steps -
1. Visit our website - www.everydayhero.com.au
2. Click "Log In" on the top right hand side, and log in using your email address and password. If you do not have a Supporter page - click here.
3. Once you have accessed your Supporter page, click "Join an existing team" on the right hand side.

4. Search for your team name and click "Join Team."
5. An email will be sent to the team leader, who will approve your request!
HOW DO I CHANGE MY GOAL FUNDRAISING AMOUNT?
From your Supporter page, click "Edit this Supporter page" (you will need to be logged in to do this) on the right hand side. From here, you will be able to change your goal amount.

HANDY HINT - Set weekly or daily goals for your fundraising. By having smaller targets it means you’re more likely to achieve them and keep up your awesome energy! You can then up your goal amount as you hit it!

AT THE EVENT

WILL I BE ON MY OWN ON THE ROUTE?
Not at all! In addition to the hundreds of kindred spirits who will be joining you, our staff, crew and volunteers will be with you all the way!
WHERE CAN SPECTATORS WATCH ME?
Along the route, there are multiple pit stops marked where your family and friends can cheer you on from. They can also watch you leave the starting line or meet you at the finish line and celebrate with you after finishing such an incredible feat!
WHAT WILL I FIND AT THE PIT STOPS?
Each pitstop will have a range of water, snacks and portable toilets. Pit stops vary in distance from each other, but generally there is every 5kms. We walk through multiple Hawaiian centres which offer entertainment and fun for the participants and spectators alike!
WILL I BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IF I AM IN A WHEELCHAIR?
